Marisquería Pura Vida Information

Walking into Marisquería Pura Vida at 1008 S Big Spring St, Midland, TX 79701, United States feels like discovering a well‑kept local secret that’s been right under your nose. The moment you step through the door, there’s this warm, relaxed vibe that tells you this isn’t just another spot for lunch or dinner - it’s a place where people genuinely enjoy food and come back again and again. The location itself sits in a lively part of Midland, and its bright signage and casual exterior make it easy to spot if you’re wandering around town looking for something fresh and satisfying.

From the first look at the menu, you can tell the focus here is on delivering quality seafood with a Latin flair that isn’t watered down for the Texan crowd. I was drawn in by the variety of ceviches, tacos, and seafood platters, and watching the kitchen’s rhythm during a busy dinner service only boosted my confidence that this place knows what it’s doing. Reviews from other diners around town often mention the generous portions and the bold, bright flavors - and those impressions are well earned. The shrimp aguachile, for example, was crisp and vibrant, with just the right kick of lime and jalapeño, while the fish tacos were crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside.

Service here tends to match the food’s friendly and unpretentious energy. Our server was attentive without hovering, ready with recommendations when we asked about house specialties and happy to adjust spice levels to suit our tastes. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and it makes the whole meal feel more personal and enjoyable.

Even on a weeknight, the atmosphere was buzzing with locals sharing stories over pitchers of margaritas and plates piled high with seafood fajitas. Whether you’re a long‑time Midland resident or just passing through, Marisquería Pura Vida feels like the sort of place you’d tell your friends about after one visit - because good food, lively ambiance, and genuine hospitality tend to stick with you.

What People's Say About Place

I have never in my life left a review! This place is a pure 10/10 all the way around... We had some exclusive oysters that were not on the menu and they were pretty expensive but totally worth it. They were definitely the best oysters I've ever had in my life. All the food we tried was great. There wasn't anything none of us ordered that we didn't enjoy. Food, atmosphere, music, service, and scenery were all great. We will definitely be going back frequently

Zaidi was out waitress and she was so sweet, so attentive, and great at her job. The restaurant itself was so clean, even the restrooms. We started off with an appetizer of fried seafood. It was basically just thin slivers of calamari (think fried onions for casseroles), tiny shrimp, and small pieces of octopus. It’s served with a salsa that lacked flavor but was just okay after adding salt and Maggi. It wasn’t anything special and we would not order it again. Not for that price. My kids nuggets and fries were good. Better than most places. I got the ribeye burger and it was soooo delicious. IMO it just needed mustard which I’m sure I would’ve been given if I had asked. The fries were decent, wish they would’ve salted them fresh out the fryer. I would definitely order it again. My husband got the filete relleno and he really liked it. I thought it was yummy too. The sides with that were good too! We will definitely be coming back! Their menu is huge and everything looks so delicious. My only complaint, besides the appetizer, is that we were charged for a soft drink for my son’s meal when the kids menu clearly says it’s included. I attached a pic of that so you can see. I did ask and said it wasn’t included and that was that, not gonna make a big fuzz over it. Overall, it’s a great spot.

The food is good, service is good, drinks are good, atmosphere is amazing. Love going there for banda nights. All the times ive gone ive had a good experience.

On arrival you are greeted and walked to your table. Started off with chips and salsa with a surprisingly good seafood broth. You get a red and green salsa the salsa cups are too small more for dipping not scooping. Although the salsas have a good flavor (not spicy). It would suffice to have only the red salsa in a good sized dipping bowl would be perfect. I got the asado plate again not spicy but full in flavor and the meat was not dry. It was paired with rice and refried beans with cheese on the beans, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. I also tried aguachiles with chile negro it was spicy and full of flavor it had octopus shrimp and veggies all balanced perfectly. My main concern was the beer glasses had stains from its previous drink (tajin) mind you I ordered a plain beer. Maybe the dishwasher was having a bad day i am not too picky so I totally forgot to bring it up. The vibes were Mexico beach themed with mainly Mexican regional Banda music (I personally enjoyed). Parking is vast, they also have handicap parking up front. All in all had a great experience I will be returning soon. Recap- great food/great vibes/great customer service. Their Seafood is a bit pricey but this is Midland all seafood here is pricey.

Best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in area. Portions are larger than I can eat. Everything shocked me. If you’re looking for a good environment with great drinks and food- great staff I suggested this for midland and odessa area- well worth the trip!

Carlo took care of us for a minute before handing us over to our waiter but the little bit we had him he explained the whole menu. Carlo is great & the food and drinks are 10/10 definitely coming here a lot. Live music is great too

I absolutely love this place. This has now become our new favorite place for dinner. They have great food. Great customer service, a great manager.

The food was fresh and delicious. My husband had a burger with some sweet potato fries and I had the zucchini chicken. Service was warm, professional and efficient, without being overbearing. The servers didn't hover or come back every 5 seconds, which I really appreciated. Not to mention, the decor is really nice. Would be perfect for booking as a venue. Highly recommend and 1,000% intend on visiting again to try their breakfast!
